F0X09T Book 1 Chapter 8Fox O'Nine Tales
Larissa of Foxwood
Larissa could feel the pounding of her heart sharpen and quicken, as if there were a terrified trapped mouse inside her and it wanted to burst free of her chest and flee back down the polished stone hallway to the sunlight and freedom outside! It was then that Bea clasped Larissa's hand tightly in her furry paw and Larissa was greatly relieved to know that she wasn't the only one shaking with nervousness. She glanced sideways at Reggie and saw that he was pretending to be very cool and calm and matter-of-fact about all these fancy regal goings-on, but he kept nervously clearing his throat with little coughs that sounded like little muffled foxy snarls. Only Lord Chamberlain Reynard seemed quite in his natural element, fairly prancing down the long broad hallway just in front of the shaky trio of nervous visitors.

For dispersal throughout the Wolf Steppes
Statement of Knight Ravenel,
Provisional Supreme Commander of the Wolfen Guard:
There is no invasion of Foxwood. Reports of this nature are the rumors and lies of irresponsible hoaxsters and provocateurs. The usual suspects.
ON THE WOLF STEPPES RUMORS:
An intruder was indeed intercepted without further incident and remanded immediately into the custody of the Council of Princesses in Athena.
The intruder has been judged to be a harmless being and of no threat to the realm. The intruder is being held for further inquiry and legal processing.
The intruder was arrested by Knight Nathaniel and a detachment of the Wolfen First Cavalry. The intruder's location was indicated in advance by a patriotic Oracle Fox and so there is nothing "in question" about Knight Nathaniel's quick and effective response.

FIELD NOTES OF INTERCEPTING WOLFEN
A semi-trusted paid informant (north forest sprite, aka "Agent 0") alerted Wolfen Security to an imminent suspicious transmission of some importance (in the form of a handwritten note!) from one fox master (residence: Province of Augurs) to another fox master (residence: Province of Solace), both foxes known to this dept for their histories of borderline subversive activities. "Agent 0" was instructed to disable the messenger fox (via sleeping dust) long enough to secretly make another handwritten copy of the note for Wolfen Security official intel purposes. The following is the transcribed text of the intercepted fox master-to-fox master transmission:

Larissa of Foxwood
Lord Chamberlain Reynard suddenly tilted his head back and raised one of his finely-cuffed and manicured (pedicured?) furry hands heavenward, apropos of nothing in particular, as far as Larissa could tell, and addressed the newly arrived trio of guests.
"Larissa! Reggie! Bea! Come right this way! Quickly! Quickly! The Royal Princesses are assembled in expectation of receiving you!" Reynard had already turned and launched himself back up the red carpet into the Castle foyer as if he were late for an appointment. Larissa, Reggie and Bea had to dash after him to catch up. They followed at the heels of the tall, dapper fox as he continued to accent his own words with dramatic sweeping flourishes of his arms as he walked and talked.
"I'm afraid that the usual tranquility of our peaceful Kingdom has been disrupted b
F0X09T Book 1 Chapter 6 The bridge over the fifth and final moat circling Foxwood Castle fed the speeding carriage carrying Larissa, Reggie and Bea into and through a wide-open arched gateway entrance in the high stone wall surrounding well, surrounding whatever lies within that I'm being fed to, thought Larissa. The gateway opening looked to her like a giant's yawning mouth, the raised section of jail-cell gate flashing overhead, with its long row of gleaming spiked tips, being the giant's fearsome teeth.
Larissa assumed they were entering the "garage" of the Castle. But no! They had passed through yet another surrounding protective wall and were still about a football field or so away from the front entrance of the Castle. What lay between was a beautifully landscaped courtyard, like a perfectly sculpted green lawn but with statues, little fountains, sitting benches and garland-co
