The people in my life were adequately warned, but there were still those that questioned my sanity and work methods as I stayed up for the duration of the weekend meticulously poring over eachof the entries... then starting over and reading them again.
Literature Winner: A Shower and a Change by ~markmywords85
Because so many of them moved me, I felt compelled to write a few words about a few of the entries that almost made the cut.
1st Runner-Up:
Odyssey II Submission: Chapter One by ~RobertWGetzSo obliquely connected to Prologue, yet it works so incredibly well. This Chapter 1 of the story transporting readers to a unique other world was wonderfully stylistic and beautifully written.
2nd Runner-Up:
Odyssey II Submission: Chapter One by ~Kill-NatalieParticularly effective horror writing. Possessing the power of sudden terror unleashed.
3rd Runner-Up:
Chapter 1 again ~AlNiCo-ismAn incredible amount of plot information that was very artfully revealed with speed-of-light pacing. Creativity + propulsion = ace storytelling. Absolutely wonderful work.

A note to participants:
A number of participants in Odyssey II have brought up the issue of mature and erotic content in chapter submissions and illustrations. The intention of this project is to release a book that young readers (over 13) and of course older readers could enjoy. This does not mean at all that the content or themes should be targeted to young readers. But it does mean that the content should not be patently offensive to them sexually. The general guide is to submit material that would not require a “mature” designation and of course anything pornographic or involving an actual description of a sexual act would be out of the question. If you do want to submit mature content as a way of participating without the likelihood of the work being selected, you can do so by indicating that it contains mature content when you submit it. Please keep in mind that the published work will likely include material created by a deviant under the age of 18. It would be very odd to place their work in a publication they themselves could not purchase and enjoy. DeviantART has an article about its policies concerning mature and erotic literary content here [CEA Update: Defining pornography in Literature] and a related FAQ here.

who will be chosen at the end. It's interesting to see how people react to this, to see their illustrations, visions, concepts ... Thanx 4 the answer.
