Fantastic Four Trailer

There’s a new Fantastic Four trailer and oh em gee does it look good. It’s so well-cast, and looks to have the balance of witty humor and emotional gravity we’ve come to expect from Marvel films. This could just be the low-key best blockbuster of the summer. What do you think? What summer hit are you most looking forward to?

Get To Know These Artists

Every week da-hazard posts a feature that spotlights four artists he feels deserve more attention. Check out the latest edition here.

Furious 7 Made So Much Money

After clearing $1.15 billion worldwide, Furious 7 is the number seven highest-grossing film of all time without adjusting for inflation. Congratulations to everyone who had points in the project, for making so much money just now! And we’ll go ahead and add a presumptive congratulations for the Academy’s Best Picture nod that Vin Diesel believes the film is a shoo-in for. Even if the film doesn’t get the award, we’re sure everyone involved can take solace in the aforementioned $1.15 billion dollars their film grossed.

J. Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence Peanut Mosaic

An artist made a mosaic of Jennifer Lawrence’s face using just shy of 10,000 planters peanuts. Make of it what you will, but the mosaic was commissioned by Ripley’s Believe it or Not, and measures 78 inches tall by 55 inches wide. The artist who created it is named Mateo Blanco, and we’ll just go ahead and mention that he’s from Florida. This nothing inherently weird about this, J-Law is the best obviously, and it’s a really well-done tribute to her. But it still kinda seems weird, right? Why is that? Discuss.

Ramen Noodle Baths Are A Thing

This weird bit of news comes out of Japan, where there’s a spa in business that allows its patrons to bathe in bowls of ramen broth and noodles. Supposedly the collagen in the broth is good for the skin and can help increase metabolism, but this seems like pretty bizarre territory just for good skin. Like, couldn’t they just make a cream or a scrub of some kind? We are feeling a mixture of hunger and disgust about this. Who here has tried this? Please report all relevant details in the comments section.

George Lucas To Build Affordable Housing

After his plan to build a studio in Marin County, California — one of the wealthiest counties in the US — was scrapped, George Lucas is now planning to bring affordable housing to the 1,000-acre Grady Ranch location. The plan includes 224-units, a community center, a farm, and a bus stop for the residents. It’s not totally unfair to speculate that the impetus for this project was revenge on the Marin County residents who protested Lucas’s proposed studio, and if that’s correct, it’s working brilliantly, as residents are now more concerned than ever about the potential decrease in property values they believe the housing unit will cause. However, George Lucas has a long, tested track record of benevolent philanthropy, and he routinely makes large-scale donations to charity. He’s also signed a pledge to will half of his fortune to charity. All we can say is that we hope the housing units provide a nice place to live for its residents, who otherwise couldn’t swing the prices in this prohibitively expensive county. If some affluent residents get their feelings hurt over the project, who cares?

It Rained Worms In Norway

This is not a drill. According to a report from UPI, worms “rained” down in Norway and nobody is quite sure why. This phenomenon has been recorded before in literature, but apparently this is the first time it’s been documented by modern scientists. Some believe that worms could have been lifted into the air by a weather system and blown throughout widespread areas. While the case is still open, let’s speculate wildly about the cause of this worm-storm in the comments section. What do you think caused this?

Batman v Superman (Retro Style)

Bobby Burns remade the Batman v Superman trailer using old-school Superman and old-school Batman, and it’s markedly better. The pure silliness of Adam West’s Batman running in front of the green screen set to the serious voiceover and music from the actual new trailer is just the best.
