Tilda to Join 'Doctor Strange'

It looks like actress, Tilda Swinton, may be well on her way to joining the cast of the upcoming Doctor Strange movie. She's currently in talks to portray Dr. Strange's mentor, a Tibetan Mystic, known only as The Ancient One, a role that was originally meant for a male. This is just one in a recent set of moves to promote diversity in the comic world but is it enough? And can we ignore the ethnicity issue either? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below. Meanwhile, feel free to enjoy our Tilda Swinton Collection.

Literature Debates

The team at CRLiterature have sparked a debate on the topic of Inspiration vs Infringement. At what point, for you, does a piece inspired by another work cross the line into plagiarism? Weigh in with your thoughts here.

Expecto Patronum

The World Wildlife Fund released a report that details 139 new species discovered in the Greater Mekong region during 2014. Among them is the Dementor Wasp (Ampulex dementor), named after the creatures in Harry Potter that suck out souls. These wasps inject venom into their cockroach prey turning them into a passive zombie, and then they eat it - alive. Also on the list is a colour-changing thorny frog, which seems a lot more friendly. Excuse us while we find our night lights.

Movie Spin on Beyblade

Paramount has acquired the rights to turn Beyblade into a live-action movie. Mary Parent (Godzilla and Pacific Rim) is on board to produce the film. G.I. Joe and Transformers were both hits for them, so we're guessing they're hoping this toy property will pay off too. There's certainly a strong mythology to pull from but is is enough to create a feature film that will draw in more than just die-hard fans? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Now his book is being adapted as a graphic novel by Troy Little for Top Shelf and will be released in October. Is there a point when a book has been adapted enough times into other media especially when the original author is no long with us? Let us know your feelings below (as if we could stop you).

Department Of Can't Get Enough Mad Max

Love it or love it even more than the next deviant, it seems we can't get enough of the Road Warrior or the fury that is Imperator Furiosa. So for you we give you twenty minutes of behind the scenes footage as George Miller films the carnage that is Fury Road.

Margaret Atwood Delivers Her Next Book But You Won't Be Alive To Read It

Scribbler Moon is the title of the latest book completed by author Margaret Atwood. Unfortunately, to read it, we will all still need to be alive 100 years from now when the library trust she delivered it to in Oslo prints it. The Future Library Project was started by Scottish artist Katie Paterson. Katie has planted all the trees that will be used to print the books on 100 years from now. One new book will be added to the library every year for the next 99 years. Have you ever taken part of a Time Capsule experiment before?

Chris Is Pining For Wonder Woman

The new Captain Kirk, Chris Pine, is in talks with Warner Brothers to play Steve Trevor, the long time romantic interest of Diana Prince, AKA, Wonder Woman. Steve Trevor would also boldly go where no man had gone before by being the first man to step foot on Paradise Island/Themyscira, the home of Wonder Woman's Amazonian race. Chris was not allowed to work on a Marvel movie on the grounds they already had too many Chris'. Kidding.

Drilling For A Killing

If all goes according to plan, Shell Oil starts drilling in the Arctic in five weeks. We of course recognize Shell's right to start exploring the Arctic and ruining what is left of the near pristine area. Who cares about a few seals and polar bears, right? Oh, now Greenpeace is trying to spoil Shell's plans? How dare they? They've even released this arty video, as though they'll get any sympathy from the likes of us.
